Full Outline (kitchen sink included)

This is what I sat down and worked out as a fairly complete story. There is a fair bit of extra stuff in here that could be cut but this has a beginning a middle and an end with additional cliffhanger setup of 2 shots. Time totals at about 1 minute 30 of animation by my rough pacing.  An estimated 14-17 shots of animation (if you break the flash frames from the gunfire into seperate shots).  Tacking on whatever there is for the static shots in the beginning there could be 20 to 22 total shots some of which are stills.

We can sit and cut or redo the story as we like to pare it down but I'm trying to be realistic here and come away with a complete story.  What I like about this is that we can pare it down into about 5 shots and still have a sequence. What we loose is the ability to play around with building a bit of tension and the setup and cliffhanger.

Wherever you see a color change I am assuming a new shot.

Intro.

Start with Various establishing shots of the interior of the space vessel

Port window showing off the exterior star field moving by and thus establishing the space setting.

One shot of the command deck with it's flashing lights but lack of life.

One of the ship's mess or similar barren room.

All shots could have the red or blue lights flashing establishing an emergency. Possibly with ship's com calling out a warning. Or better yet Jobim's Girl from Ipanema softly playing through the whole short. (THAT WOULD BE AWESOME)

Camera settles on long corridor with flashing lights but still no signs of life.  Suddenly way at the very end of the corridor a man flings himself through a side door. Slams the door shut and spins the lock.  Hardly missing a beat he runs down the corridor towards camera pulling his gun out of his holster as he goes.

Slides and grabs a bar that whips him around the corner of the corridor nearest camera.  As he loads gun he frantically

mumbles to himself something about space squid.  Edges head out around the corner of the corridor he just ran down.  As

he peaks around the corner the camera follows .

At the end of the hall the giant squid tentacles violently burst through the door.  Sending the wheel from the lock bouncing down the hallway towards camera finally rolling to a settling wobble at the feet of the Hero.  He looks up at camera.

Cut to shot of Hero running Camera trucking with him.

Tentacles turn towards sound and swarm out of hallway  around corner and after him very rapidly.

Hero runs down corridor towards camera Firing  his weapon into the mass of tentacles swarming up behind him.

Tentacles shoot out after him. He dodges repeatedly fighting off the tentacle again and again. One tentacles wrap up his gun arm.  He fends and doges off others.  As one of the on rushing tentacles  shoots over his head and breaks the light in a shower of sparks and the scene goes black save for the staccato flashes of gunfire which illuminate silly scenes of the two combatants struggling for their lives

In Flash one he is holding a tentacle that has him by the throat while he fires with his wrapped up hand into the mass.

In Flash two and three He pulls a can out and from his back and tears at it with his teeth

then at the last gun flash all goes quiet for the moment.

Cut to Camera low to ground in control room looking at door. Hydraulic door rapidly opens to a complete blackness from which Hero jumps/falls out of into the room. Large tentacle follows after looming overhead and smashes down where our hero barely rolls out of the way.

New Camera Angle

Hero jumps up and slams on the door button which violently closes the doors cutting the tentacle off by the violent force of it's closure.

Screeching noise erupts from the other side of the door.

Perhaps cut to an exterior shot of the ship floating in space

As screech dies down cut to

Side shot cutaway showing both sides of the door. Close up camera pans slowly from tentacle to hero side of door.

Squid side of door is a bunch of smaller tentacles writhing around looking for some way in the door. There is a subtle beeping that gets louder and faster as time goes by.  One tentacle comes up with a flashing canister and holds it while another tentacle inspects it curiously.

Hero side of door comes into view.

Hero inspecting watch with head near the door counting. "8 mississippi....9 mississippi...." Last bit of squid side of door still in camera flashes white.

Cut to low camera near feet of Hero as white puff of smoke forces itself through the crack in the door. Camera rises to hero's face as he turns away from door and stepping over tentacle walks over to the cockpit turning off the alarm as he goes.

Sitting in seat he puts left fist to chin and pushing against it cracks his neck then Droid voice chimes in as a monitor lights up "incoming transmission"  Villian comes on screen (guy with the big hat and skull in it.) At Last I have you now HERO NAME (I like Rockefeller and Dag Nagit. Also Dog Gonnet while I'm working the cheese.)

Cut to hero's face as he looks out porthole. Look of shock on hero's face and he says "Dagnagit." (or some suitable futuristic swear word or maybe the villain's name "Totenkopf") Camera zooms out and we see that his ship is surrounded by the Space U-boats.

The END.
